Albert Blackmon

Director of Business Development

Albert Blackmon is passionate about data analytics. Whether it’s how to practice data management, implement a neural network, or create and grow your data science team, Albert delights in helping clients maximize the value from their data-based decisions. His primary focuses are Financial Risk Management, Fraud Detection, and Health Analytics.

Prior to Elder Research, Albert worked for a major analytics software company where he served state and local government clients in pension and asset management, child well-being, and tax fraud detection. These projects all implemented enterprise software, the majority on the cloud. From requirements gathering to the go-live moment, he served as an analytical consultant, technical architect, and account executive to ensure successful implementation. Albert holds BS degrees in mathematics and economics and a master’s in advanced analytics from North Carolina State University where he serves as the President of the Park Scholarships Alumni Society. Additionally, Albert serves on the Board of Directors of the Methodist Home for Children, a non-profit that finds a safe, stable, home for children. Albert loves spending time with his wife, Rachel, and son, Albie, and playing golf on any course in (almost) any weather condition.

Paul Derstine

Director of Marketing

Paul Derstine works with clients to understand their data management goals and how Elder Research's vast experience with data transformation and predictive analytic model construction can deliver custom knowledge management solutions that enable continued return on their analytics investment.

Prior to joining Elder Research, Paul worked for 18 years for GE Intelligent Platforms in Charlottesville. In his role as Motion and Machine Safety Product Manager, Paul worked with a broad spectrum of global customers to understand their business needs in order to deliver solution value and optimize profit and growth objectives. Paul has a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University. When not at work Paul enjoys playing tennis, hiking, travelling and photography. He has two daughters who reside in Charlottesville.

Isaiah Goodall

Director of Business Development

Isaiah Goodall leads business development for the commercial division at Elder Research focusing on the insurance, financial services, healthcare, and software industries. Isaiah enjoys helping clients understand how they can improve their analytics to solve real business challenges and deliver return on investment.

Isaiah is returning to Elder Research after working two years with an international economic development non-profit. In his previous role at ERI, he led business development for five years in the Arlington, Virginia office and helped secure new advanced analytics projects at several government agencies and Fortune 500 corporations. In 2011, he was the founding program chair of Predictive Analytics World for Government, a leading, vendor-neutral predictive analytics conference in Washington, DC.

Prior to Elder Research, Isaiah helped start RelayFoods.com in 2008, a fast growing, online grocery startup company headquartered in Charlottesville, Virginia with operations across Virginia, DC, Maryland, and North Carolina. He received his B.S. in Management from Virginia Tech in 2007, summa cum laude, with a focus in Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Technology. 

In his spare time, Isaiah enjoys spending time with family and friends in Charlottesville, hiking, fishing, and off-roading in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and watching Virginia Tech football and basketball.

Bryan Jones

Director & Program Manager

Bryan Jones is a former federal government employee with over 31 years of experience successfully managing and leading programs and people. Bryan’s focus is to translate the value of analytics and develop an analytics business strategy for government agencies and commercial business operations.

Bryan’s education is as diverse as his career with his latest studies in leadership and management coming from the Lincoln Leadership Institute and the University of Mary Washington.

Prior to joining Elder Research, Bryan was the Deputy Assistant Inspector General for the US Postal Service’s Office of Inspector General where he developed their first data analytics unit. This is where he discovered his passion: the combining of business knowledge with the technology and science of data mining to help transform the way government does business. Under Bryan's leadership the data analytics team grew from 6 employees to 40, from an annual budget of $0 to over $3.5 million, and was elevated from a small support group to directly supporting executive leadership. With Return on Investment of over 10-fold and with analytics driving strategic planning at USPS OIG, many other government agencies benchmarked Bryan’s work and now use his blueprint to build their own capabilities or to improve their analytics operations in ways that are measurable and transformational.

Meredith Noble

Director of Resources

Meredith Noble is a graduate of Dartmouth College where she received the Bachelor of Arts degree. Since then, Meredith has administrated the financial and human resources infrastructure for a number of local firms. Meredith joined Elder Research in 1998 as the office manager. In that capacity, Meredith oversees and administrates Elder Research's financial accounts and investments, personnel resources and benefits, and general company logistics. Previously, Meredith managed the offices for two architecture firms in the Charlottesville area and oversaw customer service for a software firm. Meredith has traveled extensively for international missions and is a proud mother of three.

Ramon Perez

Director of Financial Analytics

Ramon Perez focuses on financial modeling and market risk detection. A decorated war veteran, Major Perez served as an Air Force Intelligence Officer specializing in Signals Intelligence. As a mission director at the National Security Agency, Ramon led teams analyzing enormous data sets to produce actionable information in support of worldwide contingency operations--including deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, and South America in support of Special Operations. Upon leaving the military, Ramon returned to graduate school with an interest in understanding economic models. Prior to joining Elder Research, he analyzed long-term defense budget projections for the Congressional Budget Office. Ramon holds a Bachelors degree in Systems Engineering from Georgia Tech as well as Masters degrees from Harvard and Georgetown in Finance and Economics, respectively. He and his wife are avid travelers, having lived in Asia and South America, and having visited over 30 countries.

Sean Robinson

Director of Business Development

Sean Robinson helps clients understand how to build an effective analytics capability within their organization to improve data-driven decision making. Prior to ERI, Sean spent nearly 21 years as an officer in the U.S. Air Force in the field of Information Technology (IT). Sean was a distinguished graduate of the Air Force Officer Training School and completed assignments at multiple levels throughout the Air Force, including several leadership and high-visibility positions. Lieutenant Colonel Robinson concluded his service as a Staff Action Officer for the Directorate for Intelligence (J2) on the Joint Chiefs of Staff, where he provided IT expertise for defining policies and procedures related to the Intelligence Community.

Sean graduated from West Virginia State College with a B.S. in Applied Mathematics and completed two master's degrees from the Naval Postgraduate School and the National Defense Intelligence College. He and his wife, Deborah, have two children and reside in Alexandria, Virginia.
